Seed Starting - Beginning Gardening
Sow and Tell!
Service Description
Welcome to Gardening for Beginners - Seed Starting! In this two-hour class, you will learn how to choose seed varieties that do well in our very distinct area in SWLA, how to prepare your seed-starting soil, the water, light and heat requirements of your seeds, seedling care and maintenance and when and how to transplant your seedlings into your garden. Each gardener will mix their own soil and sow 24 vegetable seeds of their choice. Since it's fall planting time, we will be sowing BRASSICAS aka "Cole Crops". These include: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, collards and Brussels Sprouts. Each gardener will also leave the greenhouse with fall seeds of their choice: carrots, beets, lettuce, and radish, and will also be given a demonstration of how to direct sow these into the garden, and when. I hope to see you all at The Greenhouse!
